FAQs

  • We design, manufacture and build animal care facilities, from kennels and catteries to vet practices, welfare units, and behavioural spaces. We offer refurbishment, conversions and full new builds as well as supply our Kennelbuild System.

  • Yes — in addition to the kennel design, we provide all necessary inputs, including;

    • topographic surveys

    • acoustic reports

    • sustainability and biodiversity calculations

    • foul drainage designs

    • arboricultural assessments

Our packages include the option of us consutling with the planners and managing the application.

  • Yes. Many of our builds are phased so that existing kennels, veterinary clinics or welfare units stay operational. We’re used to working in live environments with minimal disruption.

  • Yes — our internal kennel panels, hatches, bed areas and fixtures are produced in-house. This gives us tighter control over hygiene standards, durability and lead times.

  • Absolutely. During the PCSA stage we often assess both options, highlighting long-term maintenance, structural limitations, and cost-effectiveness so you can make an informed decision.

  • Absolutely — all our builds meet or exceed DEFRA, RSPCA, and ADCH guidelines. Welfare is our top priority, and we integrate those standards at every level of design.

  • Yes — we’re experienced in subcontracting under JCT or NEC conditions and can support tier-one contractors (e.g. Kier, Vinci, Morgan Sindall) with specialist design and fit-out of animal housing zones.

  • Yes. We use a tailored version of the RIBA Plan of Work, adapted specifically for the animal care sector. It ensures transparency, coordinated design, and buildability throughout the lifecycle of your project.

  • Yes — we are a Constructionline Gold member. This demonstrates that our supply chain compliance, health and safety, and environmental policies meet high public sector and tier-one contractor expectations.

  • Yes — we hold £10 million in Professional Indemnity cover. We're also covered for Public and Employers Liability, meaning we’re fully insured to work on high-value or regulated projects.

  • Yes. We promote low-carbon design from day one — integrating PV panels, insulation upgrades, off-site manufacturing and modern methods of construction to reduce emissions and lifetime running costs.

  • Dog waste contains high levels of ammonia and toxins. We design systems with dedicated washdown drainage, inline traps, and treatment considerations (PTP/septic) to prevent contamination and comply with EA guidance.

  • Yes — we often engage with the EA as part of planning or drainage strategy development. We understand surface water attenuation, biodiversity net gain, foul treatment thresholds and watercourse discharge consents.

  • We’re proud to sponsor the Association of Dog & Cat Homes (ADCH), supporting their work to improve welfare standards and collaboration across the UK.

  • Yes — we provide material traceability, sustainability statements, drainage reports, and can support clients on projects requiring BREEAM, Biodiversity Net Gain, or local carbon reduction policies.

  • Yes. We’ve worked with local authorities, the military, and emergency services. Our compliance documentation, insurance, and delivery model are fully aligned with public procurement standards.

  • The design and planning stage varies depending on the extent of the build and the 3rd party requirements (Planning etc.) Construction time varies by size and phasing — we’ll give you a detailed programme at the start of your PCSA.
